The Vietnamese Prime Minister has recently signed a decision on the list of enterprises providing telecommunicationsservices with network infrastructure held and dominated by state.

Accordingly, the state will hold dominant stake (over 50%) in five telecommunications firms, including Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), Military Telecommunication Group (Viettel), Vietnam Maritime Communications and Electronics Co (Vishipel), Global Telecommunications Corp (Gtel) and Indochina Telecommunications Joint Stock Co (Indochina Telecom).

Based on each period, the Ministry of Information and Communications will chair and coordinate with relevant ministries and agencies to be responsible for proposing the amendment, supplement the aforementioned list.

This decision will take effect as from December 1, 2011.
